Fachpack 2007
Hall: 1
Stand: 317
At FachPack 2007, SOMIC will be exhibiting two highly attractive outer packaging machines. Both feature a continuous mechatronic drive and control system. All operation and setting functions are conveniently run by touch.
Although based on a standardised, modular concept, these two machines do every different jobs.
The SOMIC WA 414-T/2 Traypacker collates and packs folding boxes with various dessert powders vertically in trays. The machine is supplied with 8 different formats. Format flexibility is the key.
The SOMIC WA 414-W/3 Wrap-Around-Packer packs drinking joghurt pouches with screw closure horizontally in folding boxes. As well as several formats, the machine packs different product ranges too. This machine also features two collating units, the first is used for the collating process and the second for creating the groups. Both are 2-speed so that loading and unloading can be effected as separate operations. A pick and place robot head with multiformat functions can rotate, stack or scale the doypacks. The remarkable ejection system achieves over 60 4-unit packs per minute. The highlight here is the high collating and grouping performance in a tight space.
Since 2007, all SOMIC packaging machines have been upgraded with the newly developed, standardised quick format change system (Quick Change). This innovative element has more than halved format change times for the customer. Binding interfaces for all additional format tools have also been defined. This now enables SOMIC to offer additional new packaging jobs on a machine via a "Plug and Play solution", i.e. simple format parts and software supplied retrospectively. Apart from the products demonstrated, other products such as pouches, cans, cups, blisters, bars or blocks can also be collated, grouped and packaged on SOMIC packaging machines - enabled by mechatronics. Customised software and the correct format tools optimise flexibility with outer packaging.
Trade fair visitors will also be able to see the SOMIC exhibits in operation. A product storage system is being installed between the machines for this purpose. This system can feed products into one or both machines at the original speed as required. So, the packaging process can be demonstrated under production conditions.
