Tray/cover packers are composed of modules from the SOMIC 424 mechatronic programme according to the customer's packaging requirements.
The SOMIC 424 TD tray/cover packer can be equipped with individual format tools for varying product dimensions and case models. This allows unlimited flexibility within the format range, which is why every SOMIC 424 machine is so distinctive.
Sequence of functions:
The pre-packed products are fed into the machine individually. The collating and grouping module then forms rows, layers and complete cases. Robot portals use pushers, gripper heads and pick & place tools to ensure that fragile and soft products are handled carefully and precisely.
In the first packaging step, the inside cover is folded around the product grouping using a folding and insertion head and glued. In a second step, the tray is folded and glued with hot melt adhesive using a folding head and folding matrix. Tray/cover gluing is frequently selected as the original closure.
The perfect tray/cover packaging (cover inside) is complete.
