Bavaria’s Minister for Economic Affairs, Ilse Aigner, visits SOMIC

On 3 June 2017, the packaging machine manufacturer SOMIC was expecting a prominent visitor. Bavaria's Minister of Economic Affairs and Deputy Prime Minister, Ilse Aigner, visited the technology company in Amerang along with other federal government and state parliament representatives and local politicians.

On a guided tour of the family-run firm, Managing Director Patrick Bonetsmüller gave a presentation of the SOMIC company, starting from its foundation in 1974 by Mr Manfred Bonetsmüller through to construction of the new main building which doubled production space to 14,000 m². The Minister was then able to see the packaging machines in operation in the new commissioning hall. Two of the machines were demonstrated in live use on products.

Mrs Aigner was clearly impressed by the bright, spacious production halls and the high technical standard. The international scope and large customer base served by the Amerang company were also highlighted. Here SOMIC showed that Bavaria stands for high tech and innovation.

With these impressions, the Minister departed for Halfing where she had been invited as a guest at the political evening held as part of the Kath. Burschenverein's week of celebrations.
